This five-part video work addresses the theme of commodification and the fact that it does not even stop at people. Girls and boys aged between six and ten are filmed head-on, crying 'into the camera'. However, their emotions are deceptive: real pain is not the reason for the tears; rather, the children were 'booked' by an acting agency and contracted to cry. The video series looks at the negative impact of the constant availability of nearly everything we wish for and desire.
The tears streaming down the children's faces and the intensive, disconcerting sound of sobbing also refer to the pressure imposed by society which, with its ever-present dreams of careers, already pre-conditions its children.
