In her works Anja Manfredi explores historically and socially coded body images and gestures. The artist recognises in her preferred medium of analogue photography a potency, a space of possibility to negotiate new, alternative body concepts. Paradigmatic for Manfredi's practice is the visualisation of the artistic process: it begins with extensive research, unfolds in ordering and archiving and then ends in picture panels. For the salon in Palais Strozzi, the photographic imprint of a mysterious stone finds its translation as an abstract sign on a material support.
