[...] And that insane blue at the end of the cul-de-sac (or the incredibly lush, spring-fresh green) is impossible to reproduce anyway. Dead end? Yes. Because it seems to go no further in that direction. Because Selichar, who has penetrated ever deeper into the cosmos of pixels like Alice into Wonderland, has reached the limits of physics with his new series of works Cul-de-Sac (in French, "dead end" is immediately much less prosaic). Not of all physics, but at least of optics. Or of his visual concept. From the pixel geometry of different monitors he has extracted a red-yellow-blue trio, the detail extremely blown up. The picturesque blobs of an LCD screen have something of a painterly gesture about them. No wonder, since LCD is the abbreviation for "Liquid Crystal Display".
Almost a psychedelic reverse painting on glass, especially since these euphoric colours have been printed on the back of the acrylic glass panel. Analogue, mind you. By means of subtractive colour mixing. The four-colour print imitates the RGB colour space of the screen with cyan, magenta, yellow and "key" (black), and then the human eye perceives this imitation (or simulation) with its three cone types (with the blue, green and red receptors - hey: RGB!). "It's a highly complicated game over the boards," the artist sums up.
Someone obviously knows how to transform concept into sensuality and pragmatic ideas into aesthetic art. And perfectionism is nothing to be ashamed of.
