"25 photograms"
gelatin silver photogram on baryta
The series "325 Photograms" by Loredana and Günther Selichar consists of 25 unique pieces, each of which – in analogy to the title – shows the outlines of 1 to 25 one-gram weights on light-sensitive photographic paper of the same weight. The photogram technique dates back to the beginnings of photography and, as a cameraless process, is characterized by partial, direct exposure in the immediate, physical contact of object and paper as well as by limited color (mostly in the contrast black and white). By pricing per gram, the attempt is made to be able to purchase an exact amount of "photography." With the entanglement of technique and weight, of title and imaging, Loredana & Günther Selichar raise questions about authorship, materiality and (added) value in the photographic medium.
