In the series "Aus der Privatsammlung", Gregor Schmoll presents works created since 1996 that are reminiscent of prominent works in the history of art and photography. These are reenactments in a double sense of the word: by imitating the models in motifs and giving them a new form, the photographic artist has pursued their peculartities. The "Privatsammlung" consists of instant photographs, which emphasizes an expiring model of image production, just as the unique pieces refer to the uniqueness of designs as modified constructs. The project appeals to art and photo theorists as well as to lovers of contemporary photography. Some, for example, discovered the proximity to "A Scene in a Library" by William Henry Fox Talbot from the 1840s or to the photograph of an egg whisk by Man Ray, entitled "La Femme" from 1920, or a back of the head à la Duchamp. Others come across a gallery of all kinds of figures and objects, presented in miniature, as it corresponds to a private view of everyday life.
