Later print of a glass negative from the collection of the Maison de la Photographie in Marrakech, Morocco. The photograph shows the souks, the market district, in Marrakech.
Morocco was already considered an exotic destination for professional and amateur photographers at the end of the 19th century. This resulted in a brisk trade in photographs from the Maghreb and the establishment of several photo studios in the region.
