Collector Andra Spallart in conversation with curator Alexandra Schantl

At KUNST, Kaffee & Kipferl, art connoisseurs personally accompany you through the exhibitions of the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich on selected Sundays. Coffee and croissants are served on arrival. Afterwards, the knowledgeable experts describe their view of the art in front of the originals.
On September 29, the collector Andra Spallart will be a guest at the exhibition Elfriede Mejchar. Pushing the Boundaries of Photography. Spallart acquired her first contemporary photographic works in the 1980s and laid the foundations for the private art collection “SpallArt”. The clear focus is on contemporary photography from Austria with references to the European environment.
Andra Spallart talks to Alexandra Schantl, curator of the exhibition, about her enthusiasm for the variety of ways in which photography distorts, denies and challenges our perception. The work of Elfriede Mejchar (1924-2020), grande dame of Austrian photography, will be the focus of the discussion. Participants will hear exciting background information and anecdotes and can exchange ideas with Andra Spallart and Alexandra Schantl in an intimate setting.
