Franz Fiedler deals here with the only reality of our existence, death. At the same time, Thea Giradelli's quoted preface describes the relationship between the sexes; two essential themes that have lost none of their topicality even after almost a hundred years.

Franz Fiedler is the son of a photographer. He worked in the studios of Rudolf Dührkoop and Hugo Erfurth. His visual language remained rooted in Pictorialism. He focused primarily on portrait and art nude photographs as bromoil and oil prints. His studio and archive were largely destroyed in the bombing of Dresden in 1945. (Gerald Piffl)

He is an artist, photographer, art historian, musician and an important expert for photography who significantly contributed to the development of the SpallArt Collection.
